Despite the fact that the storming of the Bastille, 14 July 1789, took place some 230 years ago the French still take the opportunity to celebrate this historic event and to celebrate the foundation of the French Republic, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790.

Fireworks display to celebrate Bastille Day.

Our local Bastille day celebrations took place this year on Friday 12th July this year. Another combined effort from the village members.

There was a meal including a starter, entrecote (Steak), cheese and desert. This was washed down with some local wine and danced away to the music of the local disco.

11pm saw a magnificent firework show. It’s amazing that such a small village could put on such a big show.

Our Gite guests attended these celebrations enjoying the food, the wine, the dancing and the firework display. They particularly commented about the friendly nature of the event.
